Disentangling genomic/risk factor interactions in pemphigoid diseases

Current concepts of the pathogenesis of pemphigoid diseases such as bullous pemphigoid propose that their development results from complex interactions between genetic and non-genetic risk factors. In B09, these will be elucidated using biostatistical approaches and machine learning techniques, and causal relationships will be identified by Mendelian randomization studies. Selected associated genetic variants will be experimentally studied to determine their effect on gene expression and immune responses.
